Safety MUST be your first consideration when building or purchasing a fire pit. If you have young children or your guests include young children you must know that they will be attracted to the open flames in your fire pit. Be sure they are kept away from the pit when in use and until it cools down. Note that your fire pit can retain heat for several hours after a fire has burned down or is shut off.
